Shame on us. Why do we keep so much stuff?

In Spring of 2018—that’s less than 4 years ago—we had a “great purge.” We rented a dumpster, parked it at the house for a week and cleaned out the attic, deck, shed, whatever.

We were actually quite popular that week with text upon text from neighbors asking to dispose a few things. (Have at it was our mantra!)

Fast forward four years and we can barely get through our attic without nailing a shin on picture frame, discarded coffee table or a too-large box of books.

Seriously, we’re back to where we started.

How does this happen? We’re not hoarding-type of people. But I do think we have trouble committing to throwing things away in the moment. Then we use our attic as purgatory until we are finally assured it won’t be used. It’s a silly cycle that we’re hoping to break this year.

—> Update: Hubs saw blog post and said, “We need to order another dumpster and do this again.” Great minds. :-)

Leave a comment if you find yourself keeping too much. We also take tips on how stay clutter free.
